Computer Workshops


Are you interested in learning a new computer skill? We have just the courses for you! From beginner to expert, we have computer courses to fit your needs! Our courses cover a range of topics that will assist you in learning the new skill and get you comfortable in an efficient manner.

***A discount of 20% will apply to all Seniors, employees of NCDSB and for courses taken consecutively***

**Registration cancellations by phone or in writing must be received at least seven days prior to the published course start date.  Cancellation requests received before the seven-day deadline will result in fees being refunded, less a $20 administration fee per course. No refund is available when you cancel your registration within seven days of the class start date or once a course has begun.**

Intro to Computers Level I

This workshop will cover the basics of using a mouse & keyboard, using Windows to exploring the Internet. Topics covered are: Hardware, Software, Basic Operations and Health & Safety.



Intro to Computers Level II

Beyond the use of the keyboard, the mouse and word processing there is so much more to be learned about computers. On this level you will learn more about the Internet and its vast resources. Other topics include: Scripts & Macros, Virus, Security and Networks. At the end of this course, students should be comfortable using a computer and will be better prepared to study other computer courses.

All workshops are four sessions, 2.5 hrs each. Workshop fee $75.00

Surfing the Internet

Not comfortable using the Internet? Want to learn more? This course will take students through many different facets of using the Internet. Topics covered are: Internet Basics, Software, Web Browsers, Email, Newsgroups, File Transfer, Chat (Instant Messaging & Internet Relay Chat) using Search Engines and E-Commerce.



Social Networking

Are the words "Facebook" and "Twitter" not in your vocabulary? If not, join us for our introduction to Social Networking. Students will learn how to use Facebook for networking with friends and family and use Twitter to micro-blog! Twitter clients will be reviewed and compared during the session.


All workshops are four sessions, 2.5 hrs each. Workshop fee $75.00

Adobe Photoshop Elements 8

This course is designed to provide a good foundation in the use of this powerful graphics authoring program. Learn the skills necessary to create and manipulate images. Give your pictures the added artistic touch of fade overs, image colour correction. Learn about image file formats and much more. Applicants should be familiar with Microsoft Windows and desktop applications.


All workshops are four sessions, 2.5 hrs each. Workshop fee $75.00

Microsoft Word 2007

This instructor led, hands-on workshop is designed to introduce you to the basic commands, functions and capabilities of Microsoft Word. Learn to create, edit, save, retrieve, manipulate and print documents. You will also learn to apply formats, style, tables, graphics and word art. Applicants should be familiar with basic keyboard and mouse functions.

The knowledge acquired from this course will be easily adapted to any other version of Microsoft Word or to any other word processing program you may have.


All workshops are four sessions, 2.5 hrs each. Workshop fee $75.00

Microsoft Excel 2007

This instructor led, hands-on workshop is designed to provide a good foundation for using this powerful spreadsheet program. Learn how to create worksheets and charts. Enhance worksheets using formats, styles and graphics. Use formulas to create self-calculating spreadsheets.


All workshops are four sessions, 2.5 hrs each. Workshop fee $75.00
