Prepare yourself for an exiting career as an English as a Second Language ESL teacher.

Get certified to teach English in Canada or overseas with our TESOL Certificate Program.

The ACE TESOL Certificate is an ESL/EFL teacher training course with 100 hours of classroom instruction and a 10 or 20-hour supervised practicum. Using the ACE Method, trainees explore teaching, learning and language through task-based, participatory and interactive experiences. The course content is based on the most recent research in language acquisition and language education.

The following topics are covered in the course:

Teaching and learning theory; current methodology; lesson and unit planning; teaching techniques; language systems (grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation); language skills (speaking, listening, writing, reading); testing and evaluation; and starting your ESL/EFL career.

Candidates are assessed on the following: an observation report, a progress test, an achievement test, a lesson planning task, a lesson plan portfolio and in-class microteaching. Certification is achieved at a pass, high pass or distinction level.

The ACE TESOL Certificate, with the 20-hour practicum, meets the requirements of TESL Canada. With the ACE TESOL Certificate (20-hour practicum) you can teach ESL in Canada and abroad. Graduates with a university degree are eligible for TESL Canada Professional Certification Standard One.
